Thanks to the fantastic leadership of Kristie Ghossein, Eden’s Landing already had big plans for Plastic Free July before I hit her up to join our community action!
Staff member Kiri, is pictured here with the biodegradable take away containers they use. Did you know they are only better than plastic in light of the climate crisis if they get disposed of in a green organics bin? Anything organic that ends up in landfill (ie. All the rubbish in the bins down the Main Street) contributes to the generation of a toxic greenhouse gas called methane.
To take as much responsibility for this reality as a Mullum takeaway business can, Eden’s Landing will provide a green bin for their customers to use and put up a sign reminding us all to ensure these items are disposed of correctly! If you can’t drop the used container back to the store make sure you take it home (if you have green bin at home!).
The business is also organising a reusable bag collection for customers to borrow from if they forget to BYO bags. If you have any spare reusable bags at home (please none with corporate logo’s) then please drop them into the shop the next time you’re there!
What a Fantastic effort! Please drop in and say thanks:)
