The Mullumbimby Book Shop would happily join the Plastic Free July campaign but the only action they can implement is ‘bagging the bag’. If you have access to a yellow lidded bin you can collect your soft plastic waste (bread bags, plastic bags, clean glad wrap, biscuit & rice cracker wrappers…all soft plastic really!) can be placed INSIDE the largest plastic bag in the bunch and then placed in the yellow bin.
Like many of the town’s traders, Denise doesn’t have the use of a yellow lidded bin at work so she can take the small amount she gets from book suppliers home. Other businesses with large volumes of soft plastic & polystyrene waste are unhappy that the services available to them don’t divert this waste from landfill. Mullum Cares is working to find solutions for these businesses for this issue.
