The Mullumbimby Library of Stuff has the funds and now needs a team of passionate peeps to form the founding committee and bring the library to life!

The Mullumbimby Library of Stuff has recently gained over $25 000 worth of funding and is looking for founding members to form the Creation Committee that will kick-start this community library.   Like a book library but for tools and much more! A Library of Stuff Creation Information session with light lunch provided is being held on Sun 23rd at the Mullum Community Garden 11-1pm.

Mullum Cares was successful at seeking funding from the Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal under their Repair-Restore-Renew grant. $15 000 has been awarded to assist the Library of Stuff to set up shop at the rear of the Mullumbimby Community Garden in a large shed donated by Chincogan Real Estate.  Half of the funds will be spent on the relocation, site preparation and re erection of the shed on the site and the other half on assets such as gurneys, industrial fans, generators and cordless power tools.  The goods will be available to Library members all year round and to people in need after damaging weather events.

We are now seeking a core team of founding members to help us bring our library to life!  With over $10 000 in the bank from our partnership with Splendour in the Grass this year – where they allowed us to collect and redeem the 10c container deposit from 134 285 drink containers – and this further injection of $15 000 we are ready to make decisions and plan for the opening of the library in the next 6 months.  We are looking for locals who are passionate about the sharing economy – both sharing of stuff and knowledge.  This is particularly relevant when it comes to power tools as we need a pool of tradespeople who will be able to provide face to face inductions for borrowers to ensure the safe use of certain items.

If you haven’t heard about our Library project check out the details on our website and feel free to email us on libraryofstuffmullumbimby@gmail.com if you have any questions.
