Free Community Water for Mullum

Our filtered water resource that has been on again and off again and has now been completely removed.

We want a source of free, filtered water for our community.  Mullum Cares has requested and council has agreed to identify possible locations for water fountains/bubblers in town.  To get them to the table we have suggested the funds for the fountains can be crowd funded.  The council is keen to try to cover installation costs.  The question of ongoing maintenance of filters is still to be determined.  We want the community to be given the opportunity to shape the result.

Let’s marry our strong desire for this with the current momentum we have created under the Plastic Free July banner and raise some money to put bubblers in Burringbar St!

As Mullum Cares is an organisation in the Mullum SEED Inc family once the Free Community Water Fund has been established, Tax Deductible Donations will be able to be made through the Mullum SEED website.  The type of fountains/bubblers and the target for crowd funding is currently under investigation.  Disposable Free Mullumbimby community facebook page will host the discussions about this project so ‘like’ it to keep abreast and contribute to developments.

The Manly Council was the first LGA to install filtered water bubblers specifically to address disposable water bottle use.  For more information about their project click here.
